APOSTLE JOHN C. HARVEY

“I know the Lord desires the Church to once again experience miracles, healing, deliverance and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. God desires that those in the body of Christ desire, accept, and utilize spiritual gifts. These are the things that will help in producing a great harvest of souls for God’s Kingdom.”

The life of Apostle John C. Harvey is a testament to God’s awesome power. His unique spiritual journey began at age 16. By 19, he publicly acknowledged that calling at the Oak Grove AME Church in Detroit, under the leadership of the late Rev. David Mitcham.

Apostle Harvey’s spiritual growth inspired his academic pursuits including undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Religion as a Lily Scholar at Wabash College. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, then a Master of Divinity from Yale University Divinity School. He was named a Fellow in pastoral Leadership Development by Princeton Theological Seminary.

In 1994, Apostle Harvey founded Serenity Christian Church in Detroit. The following year, he was called to be the Director of the United Campus Christian Ministry at Wayne State University, where he ministered to students, staff, and faculty on campus. He retired in 2006 after an illustrious career.

In October 2001, the apostolic mantle was confirmed in the life of Apostle Harvey. The bible declares that it was Jesus “who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-12, NIV).

God continues to bless Apostle Harvey as he leads the ministry at Serenity.
